I remember a time my blood ran cold Over persuaded with the lies that they told There’s an emptiness and a feeling that never goes away Paranoia lingers down my spine and through my fingers Another victim of these war games that we play They will never tell me why The scars on the inside Buried deep within my mind When there’s nothing left to die for So many times I try To forget But the memories alive Passed the point of our survival This house has seen its share of ghosts Under a dark spell Left out in the cold Paranoia hits like a wave Suddenly I’ve lost my way Inside these contradictions still remain They will never tell me why The scars on the inside Buried deep within my mind When there’s nothing left to die for So many times I try To forget But the memories alive Passed the point of our survival The person that you know Is out of your control I’m not the only one Whatever you see Is lost in misery I’m not the only one
2.
Maybe one day It will arrive like a black out All lost in the records No fucking trace of our whereabouts Just putting faith in illusion As we outsource our memories Digital devices wooaahh Wish we could take it back Remember all we had For everything we’ve gained Leaves it hard to imagine If all we've had Are these letters and photographs These constant reminders it was Something to live for But we must learn to engage It’s like second nature to store it all away How long will it take Before We forget To live our lives as we mean it This is the dilemma Of being alive And I’m not sure why

Tonight there's no burritos, Communication's broke. The sound guy is giving us shit, We're just playing the show we've got nothing to do with it. This awkwardness will pass, You can hear a needle drop like glass. This place will fill up when the punk rock fan club's playing for idols. Our only question is when the bar opens. A pint of distraction to deal with emotion. Without it, I'd doubt that we'd keep our focus. Together we'll build it, this night will not break us. There's no use in naming or slyly complaining. Turns out it all panned out and the echoed voices rose from a murmur. Within the span of hours went from back left to front and center, Staring through the faces we've seen before we saw them again, They make us who we are. Hell, it could be worse it's just Brick and Mortar and the wind is at our backs. Spit in our faces, Expect hesitation to sell out your venue despite our East Bay crew. Singing and dancing conjoined with compassion shows that we're needed to keep these hearts beating.

Its staring at me and nothing can compare. Which is why I realize that I should be prepared. There's no use in compromising, I know you'll be right behind me. Weeks spin forward quickly, nothing to do but agree...because outside the ground is facing north, Sunlight on a roof or bench or porch, Downtown the bars are filling up. Last night I tried, nothing's gonna make me stop. Something you can't control that's hiding in disguise, The problem being we all share in the same vice. Its OK its a Summer Sunday. Blame it all on a Summer Sunday. Wouldn't listen if you said you'd blame me. If it ain't true I don't know what it would be. There's something we came for, but we didn't leave with anything but a longer next day. We're not the same, But we're not so different and I know your trying as hard as you can. We know it ain't cheap but it sure is convenient. You know I'll get you the next time we go, and it won't be long.

about

Build Them to Break formed in the summer of 2007 after a move from Michigan to San Francisco. The quartet pools their individual styles and shared love of melodic punk and hardcore to craft a sound largely influenced by bands like The Swellers, Heartsounds, Propaghandi, and Thrice.

Oakland's own Weekender was conceived in 2009 completing their line up the following year. Combining expressions of SoCal 90's punk, metal and hardcore, the trio draws from a wide variety of personal influences including Hot Water Music and The Lawrence Arms.

On March 26, 2012 both bands had the privilege of performing with late punk legend Tony Sly at Brick & Mortar in San Francisco. The idea of doing a 7" split record originated after that show during a shared ride in the haziness of Weekender's touring van. In April 2013, both bands celebrated their first ever 7" split debut during a two night release show which took place in Oakland and San Francisco.
